Moisturizers

  • Purpose of Moisturizers
    • The purpose of daily moisturizers is to hydrate, nourish and protect the skin.
    • The most popular type of moisturizers include:
      • Exfoliating
      • Anti-Aging
      • Sun Protection
      • Hydrating
  • How to Choose A Moisturizer
    • Depending on your skin type and skin goals, selecting the right moisturizer is all that difficult.
    • Ask your self this critical question:
      • What is my main skin care goal?
        • Get rid of dark marks/scars
        • Reduce large pores
        • Clear up acne
        • Prevent acne
        • Tighten my skin
    • Exfoliating moisturizers work best to prevent and correct all of these skin care issues listed.
    • We recommend selecting a non- comedogenic water based exfoliating moisturizer for night use.
    • Since the exfoliating process works to remove the dull surface of your skin, it is not recommended for day time use due to the risk of pro-longed sun exposure.
    • Exfoliation can allow your skin to become more sensitive and vulnerable to dark marks and age spots if you do not take proper precautions.
    • For day time use, we recommend a water based hydrating moisturizer with an SPF 15 included.
    • Your skin care system should complement the moisturizer you select. In other words, all products within your skin care system should contain similar ingredients that collaborate together and provide the results you are seeking.
    • An exfoliating moisturizer alone will not help you achieve your skin care goals, but if used in conjunction with similar exfoliating ingredients, you will definitely see results.
  • Dry Skin Moisturizer Tips
    • Water based, emollient rich creams work best for dry skin.
    • Always select moisturizers that are non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores) to prevent breakouts which can lead to dark marks/scars.
    • Key ingredients to look for when selecting a moisturizer for your dry skin: hyaluronic acid, glycerin, Vitamin E, emu oil
  • Oily Skin Moisturizer Tips
    • Water based, lighter nourishing creams work best for oily skin.
    • Always select moisturizers that are non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores) to prevent breakouts which can lead to dark marks/scars.
    • Key ingredients to look for when selecting a moisturizer for your oily skin: lemon oil, peppermint oil, rosemary, hyaluronic acid
