Skin Care Regimen: Building a Skin Care System That Provides Results

Core Skin Care System

  • A core skin care system should include the following key steps:
    • Cleanse
      • Gently remove product build up, oil, dirt and debris from the skins surface and the pores.
      • Flawless skin begins  with clean skin. Be sure to select a gentle cleanser that will not leave your skin tight and dry.
      • Most bar soaps are harsh on the skin, and strip away natural moisture.
      •  If selecting a bar soap, be sure to check for natural ingredients with natural ingredients such as oatmeal and cornmeal.
      • We recommend gently cleansing the skin in the morning and evening as a part of your skin care system.
    • Tone
      • Toners help to cleanse and nourish the skin while deep cleaning the pores.
      • Stronger toners contain more alcohol, and are known as astringents.
      • Astringents work well to control oil production and prevent breakouts. However, due to the increased alcohol content, it can leave your skin tight and dry if you have dry sensitive skin.
      • Mild cleansing toners work best to calm and refresh the skin for those with dry sensitive skin.
      • We recommend incorporating a toner into your morning and evening skin care system.
    • Moisturize
      • Re-hydrate, replenish, and nourish the skin on a daily basis.
      • Traditionally, heavier creams are used in the evening, and lighter creams used during the day time.
      • Lighter creams formulated for day time use provide SPF protection, work well under make-up, and provide anti-aging benefits.
      • We recommend moisturizing the skin in the morning and the evening.
    • Correction/Prevention
      • Specialized treatments which address key areas such as: dark spots, large pores, uneven skin texture, anti-aging/wrinkles, and breakouts.
      • Examples of corrective and preventative treatments include: skin peels,  SPF protection, eye cream, and skin lightening creams.

Hair Care Regimen: Building a Hair Care System That Provides Results

Core Hair Care System

  • A core hair care system should include the following key steps:
    • Cleanse
      • Gently remove product build up, oil, dirt and debris from hair and scalp
      • We recommend gently cleansing the hair at least 1x per week with all natural herbal shampoos or light conditioners.
    • Condition
      • Re-hydrate and strengthen wet and dry hair
      • We recommend alternating between protein and moisturizing deep conditioning treatments 4xs per month.
      • The deep conditioning process includes covering the hair and applying heat to open the hair shaft for deeper penetration.
      • A deep condition treatment should last between 15-25 minutes for maximum benefits and full penetration.
    • Moisturize
      • Re-hydrate, replenish, and strengthen dry hair on a daily basis
      • Daily deep penetrating moisturizers should be used to provide nourishment and protection.
      • We recommend a combination of water based products with natural oils.
      • Petrolatum and mineral oil are all bad when used in conjunction with water based products that include natural oils.
      • These heaver products should be used on the immediate ends once the water based product has been applied.
      • Petrolatum and mineral oil will help to provide a protective layer on the hair which can prevent dryness and breakage.
    • Correction/Prevention
      • Specialized treatments which address key areas such as: slow growth, damage, and breakage
      • Examples of corrective and preventative treatments include: hot oil treatments, liquid protein treatments, scalp massages, and hair growth treatments
