Tips to Care for Your Hair with a Chemical Relaxer
Do not relax your hair earlier than 8 weeks. If you are able to extend up to 12 weeks without breakage, we recommend that you give it a try.
Opt to use one heating appliance once you have cleansed your hair and scalp. For example, if you use a flat iron to straighten your hair, allow your hair to air dry and eliminate the blow dryer.
Do not comb through new growth as your hair begins to grow out. This will prevent breakage at the demarcation line,
Do not over handle or manipulate your hair when wet. When the hair is wet, it is at it weakest state, and is vulnerable to breakage and damage.
Cleanse your hair and scalp with warm water. Hot water dries the hair out, and makes it difficult for the hair to retain moisture when completely dry.
Eliminate the use of daily heated styling appliances. This also includes hot rollers and ceramic styling appliances as well.
Blowdry your hair on a cooler setting.
Alternate deep conditioning moisture and protein treatments 4x’s per month.
Do not blow dry your hair bone dry. Leave a little moisture in the hair and allow it to air dry on it's own. It does not have to be dripping wet by any means, but you should be able to feel a slight dampness to the touch when you are finished blowdrying your hair.
