How to Prevent Breakage
Incorporate the proper rotation of protein and moisturizing deep conditioning treatments into your hair care system.
Do not combine chemicals. If you wear your hair chemically relaxed, do not have your hair permanently colored. If you have chose to permanently color her hair, do not get a relaxer. Consistent uses of these combined chemicals excessively break down the hair shaft. As a result, the hair structure becomes weak and susceptible to breakage no matter what types of special treatments are used.
Add a liquid protein hair restructuring treatment to your hair care system 1x every 6 weeks. These strong protein treatments are much more potent than your standard cream based protein conditioning treatments. They should not be used more than directed or it can result in severe damage and breakage. However, when used correctly, they provide excellent strength to the hair shaft, while helping to protect against further damage and breakage.
Limit the use frequency of your chemical relaxer application. Relaxers should not be applied earlier than 8 weeks. However, if you can space out your chemical treatments longer without breakage, we recommend that you do so.
Less is more. Limit the amount of daily manipulation, including excessive combing and brushing. Opt for low touch/low maintenance styles that require minimal handling. Within the first 7 days, you will notice a huge difference in reduced breakage. It will encourage you to continue with these types of styles to retain length and acheive growth.
